I have been a teacher for 17 years, most recently as a Teacher on Special Assignment for Instructional Technology. Before I left the classroom, I was a middle school math teacher, spending a lot of time working with students to improve their confidence and mindset. Year after year I took was able to inspire students to push and challenge themselves more than they thought possible. More importantly, my students felt part of a family; we were a team who pushed one another to each be our best intellectual and emotional selves. I’ve found that my work as a mother is far more challenging around these same issues. This blog is for me and other parents to collect tools to start conversations with our children to build empathy, mindfulness, and gratitude.
